WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN YOU HAVE "IN-NETWORK" INSURANCE BENEFITS WITH AZ RED MOUNTAIN EYECARE?

One of the primary advantages of using in-network insurance providers is cost savings for both your routine eye exam as well as your optical and contact lens benefits. The negotiated rates between the insurance company and the in-network providers we partner with are typically lower than what you would pay if you went to an out-of-network provider. Vision insurance plans often provide better coverage for in-network services, meaning a higher percentage of your eye care expenses may be covered, and you may have lower copayments or deductibles when using in-network providers. Our team is happy to work with you to discuss how you can best utilize your benefits for your eye health and any purchases made in our optical!

Please note that some other local eye care providers may accept some insurances and benefits, however, many do not allow you to use the full extent of your optical coverage for purchases like eyeglasses, contacts and more.

Vision insurance plans do vary, so we recommend reviewing your specific plan details to understand the terms and conditions related to in-network and out-of-network benefits. Always check with your insurance provider or consult the provider directory to confirm the network status of the eye care professional you plan to visit.

Medical vs. Routine Vision Exams

The reason for the exam and results obtained determine if your insurance provider will classify the exam as medical or routine. Routine vision exams screen for eye diseases and provide measurements for eyewear and or contacts. A vision exam is recommended every year and is covered by vision plans. If abnormal results are discovered, you will likely have to return for additional testing. Out of pocket costs may include: vision plan co-pays, contact lens fit fee, and possible follow up visits if medically necessary. Medical Exams are performed to evaluate any abnormal results and monitor existing conditions. A medical exam will be billed to your medical insurance. Out of pocket costs pay include: medical insurance co-pays, co-insurance and insurance deductibles, refraction fee, and contact lens fit fee. Please contact us with questions.
